Professionally
I’m an ordained Pastor and church planter and have served local churches for three decades ranging in size from a few dozen to over 30,000 per weekend.
I’m also a communications guy. I create websites and web-based platforms for organizations and leaders. I’ve been building websites since 1998 and, since 2008, have focused on front-end and WordPress development. I love taking the ideas of leaders and translating them to an online audience in the form of beautiful, functional websites.
I’ve been blogging for almost twenty years. I’ve had articles published in a number of major online publications including Leadership Journal, Ministry Today, Outreach, and The Church Executive. I wrote a book about how churches can utilize social media to spread their message more effectively called Rewired and have spoken in various conferences on this topic.
I’m the owner of Walk Humble, where I host an ongoing conversation about life, faith, and relationships among people who want to make progress, but aren’t afraid to admit they don’t quite have life all figured out yet.
I’m also the founder of Preaching for Change and it’s accompanying weekly newsletter, The Reflectionary, which is sent to over 25,000 subscribers, many of whom are pastors, church leaders, and entrepreneurs.
Personally
I’m originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky. My sweet, beautiful wife, Angie, and I met in high school and have been married since June 14, 1997. She’s a very talented therapist. Her heart breaks for the broken and she’s changed my life by loving me so faithfully and graciously.
We have three awesome kids and an affectionate little dog, all of whom you can meet via Instagram.
I’m passionate about a lot of issues. I care a lot about leaders who are walking through pain and need friends and allies. I’m burdened for the broken, the oppressed, and the marginalized. I’m an unapologetic social justice advocate. And I love wrestling through faith issues with people who have big doubts and questions.
I love to travel, hike, read, and see the world, especially with my wife and kids.
